Lake Kerkini is actually a reservoir. It is located about 2 hours away from Thessaloniki Airport and is surrounded by mountains, sometimes snowcapped. It has been popular with wildlife photographers for years due to the winter influx of Dalmation Pelicans in their breeding plumage during the winter months. It is cold but this temperature sometimes produces amazing light early morning and later in the evening and if the lake is still, amazing reflections images can be obtained. Provided you are wrapped up well and are happy to lean out of the boat it is possible to obtain some lovely low level wide angle shots. These images were taken on a recent trip.
